Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
