England Recall Bukayo Saka While Jude Bellingham, Foden & Grealish Are Omitted

England have included the Arsenal winger for upcoming games versus Latvia and Wales, but there is no place for Bellingham, Phil Foden or Grealish.

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka was absent from last month's World Cup qualifying wins over Andorra and Serbia due to a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old recently returned for his club and found the net in their 2-0 win against the Greek side midweek.

The England international comes in for Arsenal team-mate Madueke, who is out of action until November with a knee injury.

England face Wales in a warm-up match at the national stadium on Thursday before a World Cup qualifier in Latvia on October 14.

Should England triumph against Latvia, they will require a maximum of two more points from their last two matches against Albania and Serbia in November to reach the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah replaces Newcastle's Tino Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following sustaining a knee injury versus the Gunners last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who earned their first England call-ups last month, retain their places. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot, even with the return to fitness of Wharton.

Saka has only played a single match for Tuchel since he became England manager, because of fitness and hamstring injuries.

The midfielder was absent from the last England international camp as he was rehabilitating after shoulder surgery and has managed just one start for his club since returning to fitness.

Foden was omitted from the coach’s previous selection following a loss of form and has been unable to force his way back, despite a strong start to the campaign with City.

The forward also misses out in spite of a resurgence on loan at Everton. He has not played for England since October 2024.

Thomas Tuchel's new selection draws attention to the players the head coach has left out rather than the players he has selected.

Bellingham’s exclusion may cause surprise but the coach believes there is no need to bring back the Madrid midfielder.

City’s Foden and loanee Grealish have both excelled in the early stages of the season.

Those who Tuchel utilised in England's qualifying victories versus Serbia and Andorra deserve the reward of continuity.

It will bring disappointment that the Gunners’ Noni Madueke is not included due to a fitness issue.

Anderson has looked right at home at England senior level.

The England boss is a fan of Grealish, especially, and also Foden.

If there is one surprise, it is the absence of Palace’s Wharton.

The star, naturally, will be needed in the future.
